How tuition works

What sets it, how it is billed and what happens when plans change.

  • Tuition is set by the length of the lesson and whether it is private, shared or a group class. Our figures are on the enrollment page and at your placement visit.

    • Thirty, forty-five or sixty minutes

    • Private, shared or group

    • One weekly time with one teacher

  • Registration

A yearly registration covers your student file, the placement visit and scheduling. It is due when you accept a weekly time.

  • Holding a place

A weekly time is yours once you accept it and the first month is billed. When a time is full, a waitlist spot holds your place, and we offer the next opening by email in the order families joined.

  • Billing

Tuition is billed monthly by autopay, in equal parts across a session, so a month with five Mondays costs the same as one with four.

  • Siblings

If two students from one family take lessons, tell us at the placement visit. A second student is handled differently, and we will explain how.

  • Withdrawing

We ask for a month's notice before a student stops, so we can offer the time to the waitlist. Tuition for the month in which you tell us is still due.

  • Missed classes and make-ups

If a student tells us a day ahead, the teacher offers a make-up in the same session. A lesson missed without notice is not made up, and a lesson a teacher cancels always is. Group classes are not made up.

  • Uniforms, costumes and other costs

A few costs sit outside tuition: a method book your teacher chooses, the hall for a recital and a keyboard to rent if you do not have an instrument at home. Each has its own figure on the enrollment page.
